Start your engines II

Background article: http://bit.ly/SGRA12

The City of Vancouver has just launched a new Awards of Excellence program to recognize outstanding civic achievements made by individuals, organizations and businesses whose efforts make Vancouver a better city for all of us.

So you want to save money, look great AND help others less fortunate than you?
Ok here's the solution....ditch the mall and get your clothes at thrift shops!

As someone who has just moved to Canada, I've had to become incredibly frugal and have found a few ways to accomplish all of these objectives. Hold on a tick, before you scream "NO WAY!!" at your pc, let's dispel some common misconceptions.

1." I would never wear clothes that someone else has worn!"

FALL FASHION IN VANCOUVER

ECO FASHION-WEEK

Nigel’s Eco Store

Many people have a misconception of a sustainable lifestyle.  Often people conjure are stereotypical image of individuals that incorporate green living elements as being “hippies.” The goal of my blog post today is to demonstrate how sustainable living does not compromise the current lifestyle you have.

A HOME AWAY FROM HOME
a triple bottom line experience

Being that I run a media company focused on “Sustainability” when travelling I usually try to stay in hotels, bed and breakfasts, and friends places looking to: a) reduce my costs  b) have fun  c) get a good nights sleep, and d) oh yeah, make sure its eco.

While in Victoria last week I did what I usually do…  I looked for an inexpensive, local hotel that had made a commitment to reducing their environmental impact, and was nice and close to where I needed to be.

The Blue Roof Believes in Green We are all trying to be “greener” at home but what about when you travel? Staying in a Hotel like the Accent Inn in Victoria BC can be a real treat but Hotels are often culprits of excessive waste production. Serving thousands of guests a year, it’s hard to provide the amenities that people want and expect without sacrificing the environment. However, hotels can take action to make operations more sustainable, resulting in large-scale waste reduction.
