This weekend hundreds of university students from across Canada will gather at the University of Toronto for the 12th annual Canadian Undergraduate Technology Conference (CUTC.ca).

This stimulating two day event is a student-organized forum for Canadian students to interact with each other and industry experts to learn about innovations and influences technology is bringing to their lives.  As the conference program describes, “In a nutshell, the conference brings together passionate young students to discuss and learn about the newest and coolest ways the world is changing.”

Student feedback from previous CUTCs helped determine the four streams of focus for this year’s conference, which are Entrepreneurship, Accenture Case Challenge, Technology, and Green Technology. Each focus area will give delegates a chance to participate and or learn about important aspects of that stream.

The conference will also feature numerous engaging and challenging events, including a Tech Expo.  Student teams and leading engineers and researchers will participate in the Tech Expo, showcasing the latest technologies and all kinds of interesting innovations such as nano-metal hockey sticks, autonomous flying machines and nano-robots [1].  This year, one of the focuses will be on learning and sharing the stories behind the teams featured in the Expo. Participating teams include the Canadian Space Agency [2].  InteraXon [3] (a global leader in thought controlled computing technology used in aerospace, wellness and the Olympics), and Sustainability Television (STV).  STV will be sharing our vision for promoting healthier, more vibrant communities and lifestyles.

Additional events include the Dayforce Coding Challenge, Windows Phone 7 Battle of the Aps, Deloitte Innovation Quest, and the sure to be popular LikeALittle Flirt-a-Thon, an 18-hour experiment to promote networking and new connections between students.

There is also an extensive list of 17 keynote and event speakers representing a broad range technology leaders and innovators.  Included with this year’s event speakers will be Jason Robinson, Founder & CEO of Sustainability Television.

Stay tuned for more updates on the event.
