Event: Green Wednesdays at Kwantlen
Wednesday, April 9, 2014 - 19:15 to 22:00
Green Wednesdays is co-hosted by Kwantlen’s School of Horticulture and Green Ideas Network. This monthly series event is now in its 6th year of environmental evenings. Challenging and inspiring award-winning documentaries, spirited dialogue, guest speakers, light refreshments and door prizes. Everyone welcome.
What’s on your plate? Join us for the FINALE event of the season, for a screening of Jeremy Seifert’s “GMO OMG” and meet special guest speaker HAROLD STEVES. Meet local groups with their educational displays and learn more about the topic of food and healthy sustainable solutions.
GMO OMG explores the systematic corporate takeover and potential loss of humanity’s most precious and ancient inheritance: seeds. GMO OMG follows one family’s struggle to live and eat without participating in an unhealthy, unjust, and destructive food system. In GMO OMG, the encroaching darkness of unknown health and environmental risks, chemical toxins, and food monopoly meets with the light of a growing global movement to take back what we have lost. Has the global food system been irrevocably hijacked?
Guest Speaker: Harold Steves, BSc Agr in Genetics, Seed Savers Exchange member, ALR founder, member of the Farmland Defense League, Vice Chair of Planning and Agriculture for Metro Vancouver and Richmond City Councillor.
Doors open at 7:15 pm. Held in the Auditorium (entrance off Glover Road). Pay parking in effect.*Limited seating*. Please register at Betty.Cunnin@kpu.ca or 604-599-3348.
